Aerial photo of the Springfield Interchange Project, taken Oct 26, 2006, looking NE showing the Springfield interchange where I-95/395/495 converge. The unfinished bridge in the photo is anticipated to open by late November and will take Beltway Outer Loop, I-495 East traffic (from Tysons area) south onto I-95 (towards Richmond.) The new bridge will allow motorists access to I-95S without any more weaving and merging with direct access onto I-95S. This bridge will be a major safety improvement making the final separation between traffic exiting at Old Keene Mill Road/Franconia Road (Route 644) and motorists heading south towards Richmond.
