The Springfield Interchange Improvement Project delivered some long overdue relief to local and long distance motorists Wednesday, May 19 with the opening of the new I-95 South bridge from the Capital Beltway's inner loop (I-495 West). The mile-long, 100-foot-high flyover bridge opened to traffic at 3 p.m. on Wednesday, following a late morning ribbon-cutting ceremony.
New permanent through lanes on Inner-Loop east of I-395 exit are shown at right. Future lanes for the B610 bridge that will connect the Inner Loop to I-95 South are visible to the left.
